VALERE is seeking a Senior API Infrastructure Engineer for our client. This is a long-term remote contract supporting a large-scale cloud and API platform modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, data engineering, and automation while helping build and operationalize secure, scalable multi-cloud platforms across Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and on-premises environments.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure across Azure, GCP, and on-premises environments
  • Provision, administer, and support Kubernetes environments across AKS, GKE, and hybrid deployments
  • Build, maintain, and optimize automated data pipelines and data assets using batch and streaming processes
  • Deploy and support API platform infrastructure including Apigee Hybrid runtime components
  • Implement and maintain Akamai integrations supporting API security and edge platform infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for repeatable, auditable deployments
  • Configure cloud networking, security controls, and connectivity across multi-cloud environments
  • Integrate telemetry, observability, and SIEM platforms for monitoring and security operations
  • Support CI/CD pipeline integration and infrastructure automation initiatives
  • Participate in production readiness reviews, go-live activities, incident response, and platform stabilization efforts
  • Monitor platform health, performance, capacity, and availability across cloud and on-premises environments
  • Develop technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and architecture diagrams
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, security stakeholders, and external implementation partners

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; OR equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related technical roles
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience programming and developing solutions using SQL
  • 3+ years of experience building and maintaining automated data pipelines and data assets using batch and/or streaming processing frameworks
  • 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes administration experience, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Strong experience working within Azure and Google Cloud Platform environments
  • Expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Cloud Build
  • Experience designing and supporting cloud-native data platforms and distributed systems
  • Understanding of API gateway technologies, Apigee Hybrid, or similar API management platforms
  • Experience with cloud networking, IAM/RBAC, security controls, and Zero-Trust principles
  • Knowledge of observability, telemetry, monitoring, and SIEM integrations
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Apigee Hybrid deployments and operations
  • Experience with Akamai, Cloudflare, or similar edge security platforms
  • Healthcare or highly regulated industry experience
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA and/or CKAD)
  • Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305) and/or Google Cloud certifications
  • Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
  • Familiarity with Anthos, Rancher, or OpenShift
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud modernization initiatives
