This is a hybrid contract role. W2 candidates are preferred; however, we are open to engaging subcontractors with local resources who are physically located in the Minneapolis or St. Paul, Minnesota metro and able to work onsite at the client’s location 1x per week.

VALERE is seeking an Infrastructure Automation Engineer to support our client within their core infrastructure platform team. This team is dedicated to platform automation and operational excellence, providing the foundation that supports the majority of our client’s technology ecosystem. What you'll do

  • Implement infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Chef

  • Design and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure supporting our client’s technology footprint

  • Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated build and deployment processes

  • Implement best practices for cloud security, monitoring, and performance

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate solutions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and service-related issues

  • Stay up to date on AWS services, industry trends, and recommend improvements

  • Provide on-call support for escalations and incidents

What you bring

Required skills:

  • 8+ years as a systems engineer or infrastructure automation engineer focused on AWS and platform automation

  • 5+ years using infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation

  • 5+ years with configuration management tools such as Chef and Ansible

  • 3+ years working with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, other DevOps tools)

  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and scalability in cloud environments

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams

Required education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred certifications (not required):

  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect)

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and SDLC

  • Experience with DevOps best practices and tools

Pay Rate: This is a contract role with an hourly rate range of $54–$59/hr: Your specific rate will depend on your qualifications, education, certifications, location, and how well your experience aligns with the client's requirements.
